Still looking for a golden ticket to business success?

For Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory was beyond his wildest dreams… a true paradise. The factory was completely overwhelming for young Charlie, having grown up in a two-room shack, shared with his mother and 4 grandparents (laying top to toe in a double bed). Until he found the golden ticket, Charlie was destined for a life of working his hands to the bone just to put food on the table for his family.

If you feel like you’ve tried everything to make your business work, but it’s left you exhausted, overwhelmed and more broke than ever… you probably feel a lot like Charlie’s Mum; elbow deep in filth, scrubbing clothes by hand from dusk ‘till dawn, for pittance that only puts watery, gas-inducing, tasteless cabbage soup on the table. You can be forgiven for wishing a golden ticket would land in your lunchtime chocolate bar.

The problem is… golden tickets don’t exist.

You might be thinking:

“I could win the lotto; that’s pretty much a golden ticket”.

True. But, 70% of lottery winners go broke within 5 years of receiving their prize. Why? Because most people don’t value what they don’t work for. They see it as a bonus; an opportunity to level-up in life. But most people go about it the wrong way because it fell in their lap.

Think about it – what’s on the list of things you’d buy if you won a million dollars? It’s not normal, everyday expenses, is it? You didn’t think about investing it in 3-4 properties to live off the rent. You thought about your dreams. But by the time you’ve bought your dream house and went on that luxury holiday to the Maldives… well, you might be lucky to have enough left over to buy your dream car.

So unless you use it wisely, you’d find that golden ticket would lull you into a false sense of security, only to drop you on your head when you least expect it.

I know you know winning the lottery is about as likely as The Queen inviting you for dinner, so I’m guessing you’ve got a backup plan in place. One that involves a lot of hard work. It may even involve truckloads of compromise… or do I mean sacrifice?

I know you know winning the lottery is about as likely as The Queen inviting you for dinner, so I’m guessing you’ve got a backup plan in place. One that involves a lot of hard work. It may even involve truckloads of compromise… or do I mean sacrifice?

In trying to build my business over the last three years, I’ve realised the two differ.

I’m willing to sacrifice (a.k.a. give up) expensive holidays – because I believe doing the work now will result in enough freedom to travel in the future. I’m also willing to sacrifice buying new clothes, having a new car and even living in our own place for the same reason.

I’m willing to compromise (a.k.a. still have, but pull back on expenditure) on Christmas and birthday presents, choosing to set spending limits for those we’re buying presents for, and significantly reducing those on the ‘presents list’. I’m also willing to compromise on entertainment, often choosing cheap or free activities instead of going to the movies or seeing a show.

I am NOT willing to sacrifice OR compromise my relationship with my partner, my physical and emotional health, or my happiness. Because a golden ticket to a successful business is not now, nor will it ever be enough reason to give up the things that matter to me the most.

Stop for a minute, and look around your life like you’re standing at the top of the chocolate room stairs.

What would you run to first? Your partner or children? Health and fitness? Rest and relaxation?

Then ask yourself, are you compromising or worse, sacrificing the most important parts of your life for the sake of your business?

If so, consider if that’s the kinda life you want to be living?

If you’ve just realised you’re risking more than you’re prepared to lose, it’s time to overhaul your business.

When you download your [free] copy of The Stress-Free Success Toolkit for Online Business Owners, I’ll show you how to identify:

→ What you’re NOT prepared to sacrifice or compromise for the sake of your business (and learn how to protect the most important parts of your life);

→ What you ARE prepared to sacrifice or compromise in the pursuit of long-term success (because making a choice to compromise is easier than realising the sacrifice has been made for you); and

→ What work you should be doing each day to print your own golden tickets (because scrubbing clothes in the laundry every day is hard work, but it’s destined to keep you chained to the washboard).

Get your hands on the latest, greatest golden ticket printer right here (sorry, no chocolate included), because the only golden ticket worth having is the one you created yourself.
