10x the quality of your blog posts with this simple tool.

by Tara Fitness

For a while now, I’ve had one writing goal – quantity. I set a daily goal to write 500 words, followed by a quick edit then publish. When I’m organised, each post works through this pipeline over three days. When I’m not, I won’t hesitate to go from fledgeling idea to published blog post soaring about the WWW within an hour or two.

But now I’m confident I’ve built a solid writing habit, it’s time to step it up a notch. No longer is my writing just about getting words on the page and producing something that’s presentable. I have goals – like building an email list off the back of my content.

Which means it’s time to improve the quality of my writing.

Luckily, late last week I stumbled upon Don’t Hit Publish.

Don’t Hit Publish is one of the latest creations in the ever-expanding lineup at Growth Tools, developed with the help of writer @JeffGoins. Although I’ve only used it a few times, I think it might just be their best tool yet.

How does Don’t Hit Publish work?

If you don’t already have one, you’ll have to create a Growth Tools account here:

Register for your free Growth Tools account.

Once you’ve set up a growth tools account, you’re ready to test your content.

The next time you plan to publish a blog post, don’t.

→ Instead, go to https://donthitpublish.com/.

→ On the first page, select ‘blog post’ or email’ (for the purposes of this post, I’ll talk you through how to test a blog post).

→ Enter the working title of your post.

→ Select your goal of the post.

→ Answer 5 questions with either yes, no or maybe.

→ Then, you’ll receive a recommendation to either publish your post or not.

→ Regardless of the outcome, click the ‘action items’ button to see 3 tips to improve the quality of your blog post. To create the best post you can, implement most if not all of the suggestions before you publish the post.

But does it work?

As I mentioned previously, I’ve only used Don’t Hit Publish three times, so the jury’s still out. However, the first post I audited with this software and published on Medium, brought me three new subscribers on the first day. This isn’t a lot, but considering my list growth hasn’t hit double figures for the last 4 months, I’m chalking up 3 new subscribers from one post as a win for Don’t Hit Publish and Growth Tools.

Plus, it’s 100% free software so you’ve got nothing to lose.
