“Did you hear about the shark attack?”

“Did you hear about the shark attack?”

…..

3 hours earlier…

As we pulled into the car park, I caught a glimpse of the shimmering blue sea. I couldn’t wait to get out of the car and take it all in. We were chasing a tip-off from fellow travellers who told us this was the most beautiful beach in Australia.

They were right on the money.

I’d say the Bay of Fires on the East Coast of Tasmania and the cliffs around The Great Australian Bight are probably the only pieces of Aussie coastline that match its breathtaking beauty.

We were in Cape Le Grande National Park, about 45 minutes East of Esperance, Western Australia. We’d just climbed Frenchman’s Peak, and decided to stop off at this gorgeous beach for a spot of lunch.

It was, without a doubt, one of the best days of our 4-month road trip around Australia in 2017.

At the beach, we noticed signs warning there were sharks in the area. The signs recommended we don’t enter the water, so we didn’t.

…..

On returning to the caravan park later that afternoon, we were chatting with some fellow travellers.

Then one of them said:

“Did you hear about the shark attack?”

Our response:

“No. What? Here?”

“Yes”, they said. “A 17-year-old girl was surfing with her father and brother when she was bitten by a shark. They got her back to the beach but she was gone by the time the ambulance arrived”.

I can’t believe we were right there, experiencing one of the best days of our trip while, just a few kilometres away, this young girl and her family were experiencing the worst day of their lives.

It really hits home how life short can be. How, in an instant, everything can change forever.

Thinking about awful incidents like this just solidifies my resolve to live my life first, and build my business second. Because, in an instant, everything I love so dearly could be taken away. I would never forgive myself if I built a business at the expense of my relationships, health and happiness, then never got the opportunity to live the life I’d built it for.

If building your business requires you to sacrifice your relationships, health, fitness, sleep & fun… you’re doing it wrong! There is a better way.

When you download The Stress-Free Success Toolkit, I’ll walk you through a step-by-step process of simplifying your business, and prioritising your life, so you can:

→ Answer ‘yes’ every time your child runs to you with big hug, asking ‘did you see me, did you see me?’ because you have time to go to school assemblies, sports games and concerts;

→ Take your dog to the beach, grinning from ear to ear as he frolicks in the shallows and tries to bite the waves;

→ Bust your gut in your weekly Park Run, consistently watching your time reduce, knowing your thrice-weekly runs are paying off;

→ Slurp noodle soup sitting on tiny stools by the side of the road in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; or

→ Slather on a coconut face mask, and relax in your recliner in your softest robe and fluffy slippers, with a glass of fizz in hand.

It doesn’t matter what floats your boat. It only matters that you make the time to live every day like it’s your last. Hopefully, it won’t be. But at least when that last day comes, you’ll be confident you’ve lived one hell of a life.
